Character Contrast Sansa Stark v. Arya Stark

Two sisters who make you sibling rivalry look like a love fest, Arya Stark is possibly the most popular character is the whole series. Sansa is not. Let’s look at personalities.
Arya Stark is an independent, loyal, hot tempered, stubborn and every definition of a tomboy. She goes through a lot, and often kills people who piss her off or cause trouble. Her flaws include, hot tempered, stubborn, merciless and vengeful. So why is she so popular?
Sansa Stark is a sweet, naïve, lady-like, spoiled and smart. She also goes through a lot, often being too trusting and falling into traps set by much more experienced players but as often grows and learns. Her flaws include, to trusting, naïve and spoiled. So why is her sister so popular?
Well after talking with a few people I realized. Sansa is seen as weak or stupid because she doesn't know how to play the game. Well neither does Arya. Sansa may not fight or stand up for herself but if she did, things might have been worse. She was under a sadistic boy king who tortured her for things she had no control over, standing up to Joffery or fighting back might have made thing a lot worse. Sansa knew when to keep her mouth shut which is more then I can say for Arya.
True Arya progresses more but she becomes more anger and jaded as the weight of an adult life presses down on her. Sansa becomes smarter and under the wing of Littlefinger will probably learn to survive in this world. True she can’t lie but she’s learning. Arya falls into a dark place while Sansa tries to better herself. So why is Arya more popular…? Because Sansa is more realistic and more like ourselves than we want to admit.
Sansa acts like a person who is learning about the world, lost scared and a little stupid. Arya is the same but she grows bitter instead of bettering herself. One argument is that Arya lost more but that’s not true. Both lost their mother, father and brother, both think there is only Jon left and both have suffered mental and physical torture but in the land of escapism, Arya is more fun. She’s badass, a fighter, stubborn, strong and gets to do all these things but Sansa, to me, is more interesting, more likable and more realistic. Let’s face it, Arya pulled half the stuff she did, she probably would end up with an arrow through her head. Sansa makes choices, has consequences and is probably more like us than we know. Not all of us are fighters and fighting isn't always the answer. If you find a balance between the two you’ll do great but I think Sansa wins this for being smarter, being more progressive and being a better role model
